While teaching computer skills to children in Mozambique, Yasu-san made sushi for his students and soon fell in love with the art form.
After his return from Africa, he enrolled in the Tokyo Sushi Academy and graduated with honors. He was hired at Ginza Iwa in Tokyo and worked there for 2 years.
Yasu transitioned to Sushi Azabu in New York and was quickly promoted to Head Sushi Chef at The Den Azabu in Miami.
His interaction with international chefs has allowed him to hold collaboration events and integrate flavors from around the world. His techniques are classic Japanese with a concentration on quality and consistency.
Having recently been ranked as the #1 sushi in Miami by the Miami New Times, Chef Yasu and team are thrilled to bring Sushi by Yasu to the thriving neighborhood of Miami Design District.
